Google Japan changed its loco for March 3, 2015 - Hinamatsuri

One of my Japanese friends told me Google Japan has a special loco for March 3, 2015.  So, I visited its site and saw a lovely short animation.

Hinamatsuri, Hinanagashi, momo-no-sekku, the Girls' Festival, the Doll's Festival, the Girls' Day, Girls' Day 2015, the Peach Festival, Google Doodles

This animation is about a girl floating hina dolls down a river.  This custom is called Hinanagashi.  Paper Hina dolls are set afloat on a river to the sea to take away the troubles or bad spirits of the girls who own the dolls.

This ancient Japanese custom is considered the origin of the Girls' Day, the Girls' Festival, the Doll's Festival or Hinamatsuri on March 3.  According to my friend, Japanese display a set of Hina dolls and pray for growth and happiness of girls in the family.  They offer sweet, mild rice wine and diamond-shaped rice cakes on the doll-stand.

Google Japan also changed its loco for its search bar for Hinamatsuri.

Well, Google Japan's homepage will only keep this Hinamatsuri animation for one day.  So, when you read this post, the short animation will not be there anymore.  If you are interested, please go to Google's Doodles Archive and check out this lovely short animation.  This is the link: http://www.google.com/doodles/girls-day-2015

After I visited Google Doodles, I'm really fascinated by the various designs of Google's logo on its homepage worldwide.  Up to now, whenever I use Google to search, I just typed in the keywords and click the links.  Thank you to my Japanese friend, now, I started to appreciate the doodle art of Google's logo.
