Amazing Ice Castle on Black Donald Lake, Calabogie, Ontario, Canada

This winter is cold and it is not over yet.  We still have snow, ice pellets and freezing rain etc..  But some of our Ontarians certainly tried their best to embrace this cold winter.   They built an ice castle and it was chosen as one of the world's Top 10 Amazing Ice Castles by Fodor - the giant travel publisher of New York.

Val Popkie of Calabogie, Ontario built an ice castle with her husband, their son and friends.  This is the third time they built an ice structure on Black Donald Lake near their White Pines Cottage Resort.

This is how their ice castle is featured in Fodor's 10 Amazing Ice Castles Around the World.

Even though it was chosen by Fodor, the Popkies remain very humble about their handmade ice castle.  They don't advertise about it.  They don't feature their ice castle on the homepage of their site for everyone to see.

There is one photo of the ice castle I love the most in their website.  It is a small one.  But if you go to Photo Gallery, scroll down to Recreation/Facilities and click on the ice castle image, you will see moonlight shines on the ice castle.  It is so calm and lovely that I'd love to get a postcard or a wallpaper for my devices like this.

I think Fodor's Travel uses the same photo.  Without the full moon the ice castle doesn't look that good.

What will the Popkies make next winter?  I don't like winter that much, but, I wouldn't want to have a warm winter.  I want it cold enough to see another ice structure on Black Donald Lake.

Thank you for the ice castle and please keep up the good work!
