Why don't we have Windows 9?

Windows 10 is free for devices with Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 for one year.  Do you want to use it?  I don't know if I want to or not.  How much will I have to pay a year later?  Sorry, one more question.  What happened with Windows 9?  A couple of my friends have their own theories.

My Japanese friend's theory:

9 is an unlucky number in Japanese culture.
The number "nine"
number nine, free for commercial use Japanese font, syunka2pbb, Japanese kanji

can be pronounced as "ku"
suffering, free for commercial use Japanese font, syunka2pbb, Japanese kanji
which also means "suffering".  Do you want to suffer while using Microsoft Windows operating system?  The Windows Suffering is free for one year?  No, thank you.

My Chinese friend's theory:

9 is a lucky number in Chinese culture.
The number "nine"
number nine, free for commercial use traditional Chinese font, Noto Sans CKJ TC, Chinese character

has a meaning of "forever and ever".
forever and ever, free for commercial use traditional Chinese font, Noto Sans CKJ TC, Chinese character

So, Microsoft will never want its customers to use the same Windows operating system forever.  Microsoft stockholders want people to buy and use more Microsoft products, otherwise, they won't get a lot of money.  Well, this phrase "forever and ever" will not be in Microsoft's dictionary.  No matter how lucky this number "nine" is for Chinese, Microsoft just jumped to Windows 10 for its own financial reason.

Combining my two friends' theories together, using Windows 9, we might suffer forever and ever !!!  Do you still want Windows 9 now?

What's your theory why we don't have Windows 9?
