Elvis Presley Cake - A recipe from Synovate Global Opinion Panels winter 2006

The person gave me this recipe is not a fan of Elvis Presley.  She used to do surveys for Synovate Global Opinion Panels.  Well, Elvis is not here anymore, this company is no longer exists and this recipe is dated October 1971!

Elvis Presley Cake is a recipe from Synovate Global Opinion Panels' newsletter which was printed on winter 2006.  But looks like it is a recipe submission from one of the people who used to answer this company's surveys.

Main ingredients:
[brown sugar] [margarine] [rolled oats] [flour] [egg] [cinnamon] [allspice] [baking soda] [walnut] [raisin] [date]

Elvis Presley Cake (not sure WHY it was named for Elvis)

2 cups brown sugar
3/4 cups margarine
1 cup rolled oats

Pour 1 cup boiling water on above mixture: let stand for 20 minutes

Add:
1 cup flour
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 cup raisins or dates

Pour into greased 9 inch square pan and bake 65 minutes.  In moderate oven 350F.  Good served with whipped cream!!

Oh, sorry, "Elvis Hasn't Left The Building Yet".  When I was typing this blog entry, one of my friends, who was hanging out at my place, said, "I think my mum would want to see a scanned photo of her recipe, too."
