100 Happy Days Challenge - Day 46 (May 5)

My pear collection, pear, pears, Asian pear, Asian pears, fruit, 100 Happy Days Challenge, Another Random Thought of a Procrastinator, Random Thought, Another Random Thought, Random Thoughts, Another Random Thoughts, Procrastinator

Look at my pear collection of May 5.  Yes, another post backdating to Happy Days Challenge way back in May, my friends.

Pears are nutritious, so, we buy and eat lots of them.  I have no idea we bought so many different kinds during the week of May 5.  Some of them we bought at Asian supermarkets.

Other than eating pears raw, there are many ways to cook pears, especially, Asian pears.

For example this recipe recommended by one of my Korean friends:

Baesuk: Asian Pear & Ginger Tea

Simple Korean lesson from my friend:

baesuk means cooked pear
bae = pear
suk = cooked

100 Happy Days Challenge - Day 45 (May 4)

Pine nuts, pine nut, seeds, seed, 100 Happy Days Challenge, Another Random Thought of a Procrastinator, Random Thought, Another Random Thought, Random Thoughts, Another Random Thoughts, Procrastinator

Bought some pine nuts for the first time on May 4.  Yes, my friend, backdating my Happy Days Challenge way back in May.

I remember eating pine nuts when I was a kid.  Love the nutty flavor, but, we haven't buy pine nuts for decades (feels like haven't buy them for decades).  Well, they are pricey is one of the reasons, the other is pine nuts go bad easily.  Basically, we have to buy them and eat them within a week or less if we don't put them inside the fridge.

Even though pine nuts are full of antioxidants and good for vision health, I only bought a handful for us to eat.  Next time when the pine nuts are on special, maybe I'll buy some more.

100 Happy Days Challenge - Day 99 (June 27)

My friends asked how I can keep backdating my Happy Days Challenge.  Easy, I have photo records.  Well, I can just post my photos.  The photos maybe meaningful for me, but, it would be ??? for other people.  A year or more later, if I see the photos, it might also be like ??? for me.  Please bear with me.  Almost there, my friends.

In my blog post Noto Sans CJK is not for picky users, I mentioned about I'd like to know how to create my own fonts.  Today (June 27), I found a free online service to achieve this goal.

This site is called PaintFont.com.
http://www.paintfont.com/

PaintFont.com will convert our drawings and our handwriting into vector fonts.  Then, we can install and use the fonts in our computers, tablets and phones.  The good things are: 1. we can create as many fonts as we want free of charge.  2. we own the copyright of the fonts we made.  Thank you PaintFont.com.

Looks like making our own fonts is not too complicated.

1. Select the language and characters we like
2. Get template(s) as PDF or PNG files
3. Fill out, scan and upload the template(s)
4. Let the PaintFont.com create the fonts

Sounds easy enough, right?  I still haven't try this site yet.  Some of my friends tried it and they like the fonts they made.  Stay tuned, my friends.  If I created my own fonts, I'll show you in my blog post.

100 Happy Days Challenge - Day 98 (June 26)

Backdating my Happy Days Challenge.  Well, I don't know if it is only me or not.  When I'm busy, I get distracted more by emails my friends sent me.  I guess I'll be like this until the end of my course (July 23).

One of my friends sent me 2 links of PDF comic book samples.

I know there is a Free Comic Book Day every year on the first Saturday in May.  But I've never bother to go to a comic book store on that day.  What I believe is: if a comic book is free, it must be something outdated and not interesting.  But I was wrong.  Giving out free comic book samples is a way of promoting comic books.  So, what I get free will not be some low quality stuff.  It will be previews of some interesting comic books.

Next year on May 7 (the first Sat in May), if I have time, maybe I go to a comic book store to see what kind of free stuff I'll get.

100 Happy Days Challenge - Day 96 (June 24)

My blood pressure record, blood pressure, systolic, diastolic, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, 100 Happy Days Challenge, Another Random Thought of a Procrastinator, Random Thought, Another Random Thought, Random Thoughts, Another Random Thoughts, ProcrastinatorWent to Shoppers to buy something for my mum.  I wasn't in a hurry, so, I checked my blood pressure.  It was within the normal range as usual.
Yippee !!

But I still need to be careful.  I'm in the lower medium risk range for stroke and heart disease, according to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

By the way, how do you keep track of your blood pressure readings?

Heart Association in your country may have something slightly different.  I downloaded a PDF file of the Heart and Stroke Foundation Blood Pressure Wallet

We can also use the online Blood Pressure Action Plan Tracker from the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Let us all get healthy together.
