Grimm ep 3 'Oh Captain, My Captain' - season 6 recap and comment

Opening quote of episode 3 is "You will face yourself again in a moment of terror." This quote is from a longer quote: "You will face yourself again in a moment of terror and will learn once again that old lesson you keep forgetting: that you can escape from anywhere, but you cannot flee your own self." - Mihail Sebastian (A Romanian author). So who is this quote refers to? Who cannot flee one's own self? The Captain Sean Renard or the Grimm Nick Burkhardt?

Here is my drama recap of episode 3 "Oh Captain, My Captain".

Grimm - The Final Chapter, Grimm - The Final Chapter Will Be Grimm, Grimm, The Final Chapter Will Be Grimm, The Final Chapter, CTV, NBC, Portland homicide investigator Nick Burkhardt, Nick Burkhardt, David Giuntoli, Grimm episode 3, Oh Captain, My Captain, season 6, drama recap, TV recap

Renard is a free man now. Nick is still a fugitive. Adalind goes back to Renard's place with her children. Hank and Wu hand in their resignation letters. Trubel returns to HW. And, the rest of the Team Grimm members are lying low.

But Team Grimm is not defeated. To stop Renard from being the mayor, Nick will transform himself into Renard with the same witch hat which made Adalind change into Juliette. To perform this Hexenbiests spell - Verfluchte Zwillingsschwester (cursed twin sister), they need Renard's hair.

Meanwhile at the police precinct, Renard's other campaign manager, Jeremiah, blackmails him. If Renard doesn't give him money, he'll tell the police he saw Renard leave Rachel Wood’s apartment the night she was killed.

Nick calls Adalind and she volunteers to get Renard's hair for Team Grimm. Monroe is worried about his pregnant wife Rosalee has to handle ingredients for the spell. But, Monroe, you better worry about yourself first. You have to go to Renard's place to get his hair from Adalind.

Back at the precinct, Renard appoints police officer Grossante to be the next police chief. To show his loyalty, he goes to Jeremiah's place with Renard. Grossante woges, kills Jeremiah and spatters some of Jeremiah's blood on Renard’s shirt. Grossante, I don't think you're smart enough to be the successor of Renard.

Monroe is at Renard's place to get Renard's hair and wardrobe for Nick. He doesn't know which tie he should pick, so, he picks 1 red one and 1 blue one. But Renard goes back home to get change before he leaves.

So, Monroe hides inside the closet and Adalind tries her best to stop Renard going near it. Finally, she tells Renard he has blood on his hair and he should take a shower. Now, Monroe is safe to leave.

In the spice shop, Nick is ready to transform to Renard. Since Renard is bigger than Nick, Eve instructs Nick to take off his clothes before he breaths in the green smoke. At first, nothing happens to Nick. Then, he drops to the floor and transforms to Renard painfully. One problem, though. Nick changes to a woged Renard! Nick, you can't walk around woged!!

Monroe can't help Nick to unwoge. So Rosalee gently guides Nick back to a normal looking Renard. But he doesn't act like Renard at all. When you look like Renard, you have to talk like him and move like him, Nick. With some practicing, now Nick transforms to Renard. They test Hank to see if he knows the person he talks to is Renard or not. Fake Renard (Nick) snaps at Hank and asks for his resignation letter. Hank yells back at him and tells him he already handed it in. Yes! Nick you're now officially becomes Renard.

At Renard's place, Adalind has to keep the real Renard at home to watch the 7 p.m. news. She talks about Diana with Renard. I think it's really funny and sad at the same time when Renard asks if Diana killed another person. But I don't think Adalind will find this funny. She talks about Diana's unique characteristic and she may have unique educational needs. Can they just send her to the school for royals? The teacher there must be all Wesens. They should know what to do with Diana, right?

Fake Renard is live on 7 p.m. news, he says he will resign as mayor and go back to be the Captain. He also praises Nick Burkhardt for doing an outstanding undercover job. Good for you Nick praising yourself live on TV. Between a red tie and a blue tie, why did you choose a blue one, Nick? Do you know the real Renard picked a red one?

While watching the fake Renard on TV together, Adalind asks Renard innocently when he recorded this TV announcement. Renard is angry and threatens Adalind if she is part of the same plot. If Adalind is in danger, what will Diana do? Will she protect her mother Adalind from being hurt by her father Renard?

Back at the precinct, Grossante confronts fake Renard. He killed a person for Renard but now his promotion is gone. Fake Renard mentions about the blood on his shirt and tells him the deal is off. After Grossante storms out, Nick starts to feel his painful reverse transformation. But he remains being the fake Renard. When he tries to leave, he is surrounded by the media. He praises the good job Hank and Wu do. Way to go, Nick!

The real Renard shows up and Wu stops him from going inside the police precinct. As fake Renard drives away, the reporters surround the real Renard. He insists he won't step down as mayor. The reporters are puzzled. Then, one of the reporters points out the real Renard is wearing a red tie instead of a blue one. Good observation!

Hank, and Wu take real Renard's laptop and files and return to the spice shop with fake Renard. Eve worries that the spell may work differently on Nick as a Grimm. They worry Nick will become Renard forever. It would be very awkward to have two Renards.

Real Renard calls. He agrees to meet fake Renard at Nick's place. While Renard is not home, Hank and Wu take Adalind and her children to the spice shop.

Both Renards fight each other at Nick's rooftop. Well, they are basically the same person, so, either one can win. To end this everlasting fight, they both agree to blame the dead Bonaparte for every murder case happened during season 5. To investigate the cases, real Renard will be the Captain again. He also agrees to give Nick, Hank and Wu's job back. Nick is free to take Adalind and Kelly with him but Renard won't let go of Diana. Will Adalind like this agreement?

My friends and I can't agree with one thing, though. "If I shoot you, is that considered suicide?" Did real Renard say this or fake Renard say this on the rooftop before they started fighting? I think fake Renard / Nick said that but many of my friends think the real Renard did. What do you think?

Team Grimm doesn't have any luck to find a way to make fake Renard transform back to Nick. When they see Renard appears in front of them, they have no idea if this Renard is Nick or not. So they ask something only Nick will know. Adalind asks if he knows where they first kissed. Fake Renard / Nick side-eyes his former girlfriend Juliette / Eve and answers at the table in his place - the loft. I don't know how Eve feels but I don't feel comfortable about how close Nick and Adalind are.

Then, Nick heard the bad news. They can't find a way to transform him back. Diana comes to greet her daddy but she realizes her daddy is not Renard. She pushes fake Renard and Nick is back his normal self. Thank you Diana power! Beware of the Diana power, Adalind and Nick. She has a complicated look on her face when she sees you two hug each other.

Real Renard is home alone. Does he hallucinate again? Is there really a man in his house waiting for him? "I tried to tell you ... you chose the wrong side, Sean." says Martin Meisner who's a member of the Resistance and Hadrian's Wall (HW).

The fourth episode of season 6 "El Cuegle" will be on CTV / NBC on January 27, 2017. Will I be able to watch it at 8pm Eastern with my mum?

By the way, what does "El Cuegle" mean?

According to Wikipedia, "El Cuegle" is a monster in Cantabrian folklore. It is small but strong. It has black skin, long beard, grey hair, pointed ears, two legs, three arms, three eyes and five rows of teeth.

So we're back to Grimm fighting monsters now? Then, why do we see Martin Meisner? Isn't he supposed to be dead? Maybe we'll see Nick's mother even though she's supposed to be dead too. She will come to control Diana from using her power to harm Team Grimm, perhaps.

Grimm ep 2 'Trust Me Knot' - season 6 recap and comment

Previously on episode 1:
Captain Sean Renard and the whole Portland police surround Bud's shop with Team Grimm inside. Eve can't woge and everyone inside the shop starts to panic. Who will come to save them?

Here is my drama recap of episode 2 "Trust Me Knot".

Grimm - The Final Chapter, Grimm - The Final Chapter Will Be Grimm, Grimm, The Final Chapter Will Be Grimm, The Final Chapter, CTV, NBC, Portland homicide investigator Nick Burkhardt, Nick Burkhardt, David Giuntoli, Grimm episode 2, Trust Me Knot, season 6, drama recap, TV recap

Opening quote of episode 2 is a quote from a French author André Malraux. "Man is not what he thinks he is, he is what he hides." Is this quote about Renard?

Inside Bud's shop, Monroe feels extremely panic and blurts out, "Rosalee’s pregnant!" Rosalee told you not to tell anyone she's pregnant, Monroe!! Why did you tell everyone when nobody knows what to do to save Nick (or your baby if Rosalee is in danger)?

Well, Monroe's best Grimm friend Nick congratulates them. In order to protect the baby, Nick decides to surrender.

Outside of Bud's shop, Nick's partner, Detective Hank Griffin and his colleague Sergeant Drew Wu come to arrest Renard for the murder of the Captain’s campaign PR manager Rachel Wood. Yes, thank you Hank and Wu! Even though Hank tells every police to stand down, they move into the shop. Maybe Hank's ranking is not that high so nobody listens to him.

Members of Alpha Team kick down the door and see Team Grimm with their hands up. One police officer finds Nick's miracle stick. Oh, Mr. police officer, Sir, please slowly put that stick down. You have no idea how powerful it is. Of course that police officer can't hear me. The miracle stick blasts all the officers inside the shop unconsciously. How come it does nothing to Team Grimm? This stick knows its owner is in danger, perhaps?

Then, we hear gunshots and sound of women screaming inside the shop. One police officer runs out and orders the officers waiting outside the shop to set up a perimeter. Oh, this police officer actually is Nick. He steals a police truck and escapes with the whole team. Yeah!

Renard threatens Hank and Wu’s careers because they accuse him of murder. But, Renard, your alibi for the night of the murder is the person you killed - Bonaparte. Yes, I know you killed Bonaparte unwillingly. Are you going to tell the judge your daughter Diana uses her magic power to make you kill Bonaparte while someone murders Rachel Wood? Renard, just to remind you, Rachel is also killed by your daughter Diana's magic power. How are you going to get out of jail, Captain?

He calls 2 people to help him. The first person is his wife. Adalind comes to visit Renard at the holding cell of the precinct but she doesn't want to be his alibi. The second person is another Black Claw member Judge Stancroft. He has to get Renard out of trouble.

After leaving Bud's shop, Monroe and Rosalee return to their spice shop. Nick, Eve, Trubel and Bud use the tunnel exit Monroe found in episode 1 to go back to Nick's place. Because of the strange reaction Nick gets from his miracle stick, he finally agrees to keep the stick in its box. He also lets Eve examine the old cloth which wrapped around the stick.

At Monroe and Rosalee's spice shop, Monroe worries about they have to babysit Adalind's children. Diana's mother Adalind is a Hexenbiest and her father Renard is a Zauberbiest and a royal. Kelly's mother is Adalind and his father Nick is a Grimm. Yes, Monroe, really weird gene pool for Adalind's children. This is why Diana has super power. She uses her power to make many spice jars flying. When Eve and Trubel come in the spice shop, she can feel Eve is different now.

While half of the Team Grimm is in the spice shop, Hank and Wu go to the tunnels to meet Nick and Bud. They convince Bud to go home to be with his family. Hope the police won't give Bud and his family members a hard time.

So how can Team Grimm get Nick out of trouble? To make Renard drop the charges against him, Nick calls Adalind for help. She suggests a Trust Me Knot.

What is a Trust Me Knot?
According to Adalind, it is a blood oath. Whoever breaks it first will die.

What should Nick and Renard do?
Nick will let Adalind testify at the grand jury to be Renard's alibi. After Adalind testified, Renard will drop all charges against Nick and reinstate him.

If I didn't witness Adalind woged, I won't remember she returns back to normal now from a human to a Hexenbiest (a witch). It's really not fair for Eve aka Nick's former girlfriend Juliette. I wasn't happy to hear Nick tells Adalind to meet him at the place, where she first told him she loved him, to do the Trust Me Knot.

Juliette vs Adalind

Juliette:
A human a Hexenbiest (because of Adalind)
As a human, she loves Nick dearly and Nick wants to marry to her.
As a Hexenbiest, she wants to kill Nick and Nick resents her.
A Hexenbiest Eve
As Eve, she saves Nick's life but looks like Nick doesn't love her anymore.
Eve Juliette + Eve???
Still looks like Nick doesn't have any feeling towards her.

Poor Juliette, she suffers so much just because she is a girlfriend of a Grimm ...

Adalind:
A Hexenbiest a human (because of Nick)
As a Hexenbiest, she wants to kill Nick.
As a human, since she lost all her power, she hates Nick even more.
Then, she goes from a human to a Hexenbiest and vise versa several times as an emery of Team Grimm. After she gave birth to Kelly, whose father is Nick, Adalind (as a human) and Nick fell in love eventually. Even Adalind returns back to be a Hexenbiest, Nick doesn't resent her.

Why Nick is okay with Adalind as a Hexenbiest but not Juliette? They are both equally ugly when they woge. They both wanted Nick dead in the past. I don't hate Adalind but I want happy ending for Nick and Juliette. Am I asking for too much?

Sorry back to the recap.

Adalind goes back to the spice shop. She helps Rosalee, Eve and Trubel to examine the cloth. But they can't see anything on it. When Monroe and Diana join them from upstairs, Diana tells them she can see lines and symbols on the cloth.

I don't know why Nick goes to the spice shop. I guess he's there to be with Team Grimm. Diana tells him she likes Kelly. So if anyone wants to hurt Kelly, she will protect him. Good to know.

Diana draws what she can see for Team Grimm but Rosalee can't Google any results to understand the lines and symbols. Meanwhile, Trubel receives a call from HW (Hadrian’s Wall) to tell all the Grimms to get ready to go somewhere in 4 hours. Nick doesn't want to leave Portland so Trubel leaves alone. Oh, when did Nick join HW? In season 5?

Renard uses his connection to rush the grand jury to convene in two hours. So Hank calls Adalind to go to the courthouse ASAP. But the presiding judge is Renard's ally judge Stancroft. Since there isn't any sufficient evidence against Renard, he rules not to convene the grand jury. Really? Not enough evidence? Noooooooo, Renard is free to go.

What about the Trust Me Knot? If the trust is broken, the knot will kill. Is Renard going to die? Since Adalind doesn't need to testify, this Trust Me Knot blood oath between Nick and Renard is useless. Even Renard doesn't drop the charges against Nick, the knot will not kill him. So, Portland homicide investigator Nick Burkhardt is still a fugitive. The city-wide shoot-to-kill APB (all-points bulletin) on him is still valid.

Now, Hank and Wu have to resign right away. Adalind has to go back to live with Renard to protect her children. Renard gets everything he wanted. What should Team Grimm do now?

At the end of episode 2, we see Renard walks out of the courthouse like an untouchable victor. Who is going to stop him?

Last week I mentioned that my sis forgot to watch the premiere of Grimm. Well, for this episode 2, I watched it just now. It's good that we can watch our favourite TV show anytime we want.

The third episode of season 6 "Oh Captain, My Captain" will be on CTV / NBC on January 20, 2017. Will I be able to watch it at 8pm Eastern tomorrow?

Grimm ep 1 'Fugitive' - season 6 recap and comment

In the last episode of season 5, Diana uses her puppet-magic to make her father, Captain Sean Renard, kill Bonaparte. The miracle stick heals injuries of Nick Burkhardt and Eve (Nick’s girlfriend Juliette).

Here is my drama recap of this remarkable episode 1 "Fugitive".

Grimm - The Final Chapter Will Be Grimm, Grimm, The Final Chapter Will Be Grimm, CTV, NBC, Portland homicide investigator Nick Burkhardt, Nick Burkhardt, David Giuntoli, Grimm episode 1, Fugitive, season 6, drama recap, TV recap

Opening quote of episode 1: "Maybe this world is another planet's hell."

The is a quote from a British author Aldous Huxley. Well, this hell is in Portland where the pro-Wesen organization Black Claw is trying to gain power and take over the world.

While Nick fighting with the Black Claw members, Monroe, Rosalee, Detective Hank Griffin, Sergeant Wu, Trubel and Eve are down in the catacombs to look for a way to escape. Later, when they realize Nick is not dead, they are very relieved.

Including Renard himself, nobody understands why he killed Bonaparte. After talking to his wife Adalind, who confusingly is also Nick's common-law spouse, he got the answer. His daughter Diana wants him to protect her mother by killing Bonaparte.

How can anyone fight Diana's super magic power? Will the Grimm Nick and Adalind's son be able to fight Diana's power?

In the human world, aka Portland, Renard killed Bonaparte. So, he needs to make sure he won't get caught. He frames Nick for Bonaparte’s death. Now, Portland homicide investigator Nick Burkhardt is a fugitive. His friends are trying to help him run away.

Before that, they dumped all the dead bodies at Nick's place into the catacombs. How convenient to have a catacomb under your house! Deposing dead bodies in Monroe and Rosalee's Spice Shop will be harder, though.

Eve experiences the Death Grip and freezes when a dead body grabs her arm at the Spice Shop. What is the Death Grip? According to one of Rosalee's books, if one goes into death with a pure soul, one can trade his / her way into the afterlife. So, instead of the dead Black Claw guy, Eve will go to hell? How can they stop this? There is an easy fix. Cut off the dead person’s hand.

How can Eve have a pure soul? Just like Monroe says in the drama, "Yeah, that doesn’t really make sense after everything she did, no offense." Did the miracle stick purify Eve? So Nick also has a pure soul now?

With a pure soul, Eve can see symbols of the cloth the stick has been wrapped in. The same ones she sees on the dead man's face during the Death Grip. Does it mean Nick can see the symbols, too?

Adalind calls Nick and they talk, hug and kiss in Renard’s house. Hey guys, Diana is in the same house, too!! What if she witnesses you guys kissing? This isn't "I saw mommy kisses Santa Claus", Nick! Diana murders everyone she hates!

Oh, yeah, Nick, when Eve returns back to normal, not as a Hexenbiest but your girlfriend Juliette, what will you do?

Well, I guess Nick has to worry about this later. Renard orders a city-wide shoot-to-kill APB (all-points bulletin) out on Nick.

I didn't know watching Grimm will make me use the online Cambridge Dictionary. Maybe I didn't watch enough detective dramas, I had no idea what an APB was. Okay, this is how the Cambridge Dictionary explains this term.

"A radio message about a person or vehicle that the police are looking for, sent to all the police officers who work in a particular area."

Thank you Cambridge Online Dictionary

As a fugitive, Nick hides inside Bud's workshop. But Bud's also under surveillance since he calls Nick often. How come they didn't find out Adalind calls Nick often, too? What will Renard do if he knows Adalind calls Nick from their house more than once?

Meanwhile at the precinct, Hank and Wu discover that their Captain’s campaign PR manager is dead. In her apartment, Renard’s fingerprints are everywhere. Ha, Renard, you're in trouble now!

After everyone gathered at Bud's workshop, they decide to create a distraction. Bud and Monroe load a freezer onto Bud’s truck and pretend Nick is hiding inside the freezer. They hope to lure the police officer Franco (Nick and Hank's friend) away from where they are. Unfortunately, Renard and the whole Portland police force come to surround Bud's shop.

Eve tries to woge into a Hexenbiest to save everyone but she collapses. So who will come save Team Grimm?

I can't believe my sis forgot to watch the premiere of Grimm last Friday!! Here is a video from Access Hollywood for you, Sis.
